Many of us have compared our experience in the Montessori movement to the story the Buddha told of the five blind men and the elephant, each touching one part of the animal and coming away with the impression that this limited experi-ence represented an accurate understanding of the whole. This explains the wide range of interpretations and styles of Montessori practice that we find from school to school and often among the several classes within one school.

The correct name of the Montessori Method is "Scientific Pedagogy."
